The Finnish education model arrives in Colombia thanks to the investment of three companies
Mehackit, the technology-based education model
The Mehackit company brings to the country a methodology to develop the skills of open source programming, collaborative software development, and the creation of technological knowledge. This will benefit a population of approximately 10,000 students over the next two years.
This project is carried out through activities related to art, music, and robotics. Its main objective is to contribute to education in Colombia, in aspects such as the generation of opportunities and the reduction of social differences.
“We are transferring knowledge, technology, and education, with a methodology that fits the needs of our country. Solutions to local problems can be proposed, using technological developments that include algorithms and programming. One of the great advantages is that no internet is required, so even in the most remote and unconnected areas it is applicable”, says Martha Cecilia Gómez, Mehackit's representative in Latin America.
FinlandWay, a kindergarten with Finnish education model
The proposal that FinlandWay brings to the country is the implementation of the first kindergarten with a Finnish education model. It will be installed in the city of Bogotá at the end of 2020. This company seeks to become one of the first national kindergarten chains in the country, benefiting more than 3,000 children with quality education.
Among the reasons that motivated this company to invest in the country are the macroeconomic context of Colombia, the stability and legal security, the growing interest in early childhood development, and the fact that the government supports the investment.
“FinlandWay's pedagogy promotes 21st-century skills such as initiative, collaboration, and those needed for active and successful participation in society. Children learn through play, participation, and exploration activities, developing transversal and socio-emotional skills vital to their academic and working lives”, explains Ximena Malagón, FinlandWay's manager for Colombia.
Tuudo, the application that facilitates student services
For students and higher education communities comes Tuudo, an application developed in Finland. It offers an administrative solution and articulates the most relevant services for students. It works in real-time and facilitates access to academic information such as curriculum, schedules, events, and activities, among others.
This application, which offers great development opportunities, has already been implemented by three Colombian universities: Universidad de Ciencias Aplicadas y Ambientales, Universidad del Valle, and Unicafam.
“Tuudo as an application has become the official service provider for higher education institutions in Finland and now in the region. It is a safe, simple to install, cost-effective alternative that allows institutions to save their administrative burden. The application is available for free to students and ready to be installed on all types of mobile devices”, says Pilar Gaitán, Tuudo's vice president for Latin America.
These three projects, related to the Finnish education model, show the potential that Colombia has and why it is chosen as an investment destination. Invest in Colombia and be one of the companies that contribute to the country’s growth.
