Companies and investors that trust in Colombia

The growth and stabilization of Colombia as an investment destination, as well as an export platform in the region, has led more and more renowned international companies to become interested in Colombia and decide to trust the country, not only by investing but also by carrying out work with economic and social impact in the country. Confidence has led to a significant economic recovery after the global financial situation and, in addition, to the strengthening of the business environment in the country. Some of these companies received recognition from PROCOLOMBIA and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism for their work in the country, which contributed to positioning Colombia as one of the top investment places in the region.
Success stories of companies that trust in Colombia:

Paramount Global
ProColombia recognized Paramount Global as one of the companiesy that generates the most employment in the country. The company currently has more than 5,000 direct jobs among personnel from different disciplines, which attests to the great urban-workforce base in Colombia, which was one of the main reasons for Paramount to come to the country. According to Ana María Barreto, vice president of operations and commercial strategy, Colombia is an attractive place for investment because "it is a country that offers all the guarantees to be able to grow a business, whatever the industry. And Colombia has been offering competitive advantages for a long time, such as excellent locations for audiovisual production, in addition to having a strong and professional industry and companies that do an outstanding job. According to the Ministry of Culture, the projects and audiovisual companies investing in the country account for around US$ 183 million.
Grupo Familia-Essity
The company Essity, present in about 150 countries worldwide, arrived in the country by acquiring 45.8% of Grupo Familia, a brand with a long tradition in the Colombian market. Essity was recognized for its investment in economic growth and is currently carrying out an investment project in Antioquia, through which it will generate more than 1,000 jobs and contribute to strengthening the local and regional economy. Andrés Felipe Gómez, president of the company, affirms that one of the main attractions of Colombia is that it is a strategic market since "it is a thriving and dynamic economy with conditions that allow foreign investors to settle, strengthen commercial relations and generate supply networks to reach other markets in the region."
Sanofi
This company belonging to the health segment, specifically the pharmaceutical sector, was recognized for the merit of the greater use of Colombia as an export platform. Sanofi has had its regional operations center in the country since 2020, from which it supplies 26 markets in the region, which goes hand in hand with its 20% growth in the last year. As stated by Eduardo Arce Parellada, country lead for the company's development in the region, there are three main reasons for investing in Colombia, these being "the ease of public-private partnerships, the talented and extensive human capital and for being one of the countries that are best accelerating everything related to digital transformation."
Natura
The Brazilian multinational Natura received recognition for its more than 50 years of commitment to sustainability and its impact on environmental issues in Colombia. One of the company's main projects is Amazonía Viva, with which it seeks to contribute, hand in hand with local communities, to the regeneration and protection of biodiversity, fauna, and flora in the region, in which it has been working for more than 20 years. The company also works with regional inputs in some of its products, such as creams and perfumes. According to Juan Camilo Padilla, sustainability manager of Natura Cosméticos, investing in Colombia is a guarantee because the country "has different ways of surprising us, one of these being the jungle. And speaking of 42% of the territory, it is worth investing in these communities to avoid deforestation. In addition, the country gives us all the legal framework required by a multinational to be able to work reliably and to be able to continue expanding the impact with the communities and with the people, with the peace of mind that the institutions will accompany us throughout the process".
In the first half of 2022, according to data from the Banco de la República, foreign investment in Colombia grew by 77.6% over the same period of the previous year (US$3,315), reporting US$5,889 million, which is even higher than the pre-pandemic year. Therefore, Colombia continues to position itself as an export platform in the region, an attractive and safe business destination for investors, and an ideal place to host Foreign Direct Investment.
