Investment funds: a niche with potential

It also highlights the support of the Bancóldex Capital program, created to promote the country's private equity funds sector and of the Colombian Association of Private Equity Funds (ColCapital) to strengthen and promote the development of this industry.
The 2013 ranking produced by the Latin American Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (LAVCA), ranks Colombia fourth among 12 Latin American and Caribbean countries, because of its favorable conditions for developing the private equity funds industry.
According to the LAVCA, one of Colombia's strengths is the attractive regulatory framework for the creation and administration of private equity funds, reasons that were also emphasized in Private Equity International's special report.
"There is an excellent opportunity to obtain local capital equity resources from institutional investors such as pension funds and insurance companies, which have had an excellent performance in recent years," he affirmed.
