With more than 30,000 companies working together, the textile industry in Colombia stands out in quality and talent.

The textile and manufacturing industry in Colombia is dynamic and vibrant. With thousands of companies and hundreds of creative minds, this is one of the sectors that drives the national industry, representing the country of beauty in the international market. Discover here five reasons why the textile industry is one of the sectors that best showcases Colombia's talent and beauty.

1. Colombia's experience in this market

In the country there is a network of about 12,000 companies in the fashion industry and 35,000 companies dedicated to clothing confection, which drive the textile manufacturing sector in the country, which has been consolidated for more than 100 years.

This gives Colombia ample experience in the market, as these are companies that have managed to export part of their merchandise to different countries around the world for decades.

In 2023 alone, apparel exports reached a value of USD 533.1 million, which shows a robust offer to supply a market that seeks the value in goods of Colombian origin.

This is something we can find in major events such as Colombia Moda and Bogotá Fashion Week, where the work of these companies is the protagonist.

2. Colombia's geographical strategic location

Located in the heart of the Americas, Colombia has great advantages to reach other countries in the continent. This offers competitive delivery times, since goods of Colombian origin have the capacity to reach the main ports of the continent in less than 3 days and the ports of Europe in 12 days. This happens thanks to its access to 680 international ports and more than 4,500 maritime routes.

In addition, the more than 17 Colombia's trade agreements with several countries around the world, such as the United States or Canada, allow it to reach 1,500 million consumers with tariff and logistical facilities, positioning the country as an export platform where textile sector businesspeople are able to trade reaching different destinations around the world.

Moreover, this industry is concentrated in the country's main industrial hubs, what helps to the access to materials and the development of products that respond quickly to new market trends.

3. Colombia can produce quality raw materials

Colombian production is characterized by the use and development of high-quality raw materials for the textile market. An example of this is cotton. Colombian cotton fiber is longer than others on the market, which allows the development of a better-quality yarn and fabric in manufacturing plants.

This allows us to further strengthen the export chain, promoting the Colombian seal as one of quality.

4. The Colombian industry is full of talent

Colombia's fashion portfolio is made up of internationally recognized brands such as Silvia Tcherassi, Olga Piedrahita, Mario Hernández, Flor Amazona, Touché and Nancy González. These have boosted the textile industry in Colombia showing the talent of Colombians in this sector and the country’s industrial capacity.

Also, in the country there are many internationally recognized universities that have trained high-level professionals within the industry, promoting innovation and adaptation to new trends.

In addition, the ancestral knowledge and the development of artisanal techniques in the production of the textile industry is a sign that Colombian talent not only stands out for the quality they achieve but also for having a unique seal in the market.

5. Colombian industry is original and creative

Cocanlombia has a diversified supply of goods, which includes the manufacture of textiles, jewelry, costume jewelry, leather and footwear, among many other goods that reach the international market.

These are also recognized for being goods that are constantly innovating by combining artisanal methods with the latest technologies for their elaboration. This gives a value in quality to the industry, but also offers the differentiating value of the Colombian seal, which has a factor of history and culture that makes it the only country with the ability to produce certain products.

Behind the textile industry in Colombia there is a history and cultural diversity very difficult to find elsewhere on the planet, which makes it more competitive in the international market.
